Through this great anguish or more so because of it, he devised a plan to disguise his nearly white wife as an invalid white gentleman and he as a servant slave to him. Leading up to their few days pass, William purchased Ellen’s disguise a piece at a time from different parts of the city. At the appointed time, she put on trousers, a gentleman’s jacket, and a top hat. Some bandages about her face, spectacles, and sling on her writing hand completed the outfit and their journey began. First they boarded a train to savannah, Georgia, and then took an omnibus to the steamer bound for Charleston, South Carolina. They traveled through Richmond to Baltimore, with not one person seeing through Ellen’s disguise though they were questioned several times and both were scared and sleep deprived. Their biggest test came in Baltimore while securing tickets to Philadelphia as this was the last port before they would arrive in a free state. William was questioned by an officer who saw him on the train and both he and Ellen had to satisfy the man that Ellen, playing the part of a Mr. Johnson, had the right to take his slave to Philadelphia with him for the purpose of seeking medical advice for Mr. Johnson’s supposed rheumatism. Through sheer will and determination they were able to continue this facade and allowed to board the train, where they arrived in the free state of Pennsylvania on Christmas day. With the enactment of the Fugitive Slave Bill their safety was no longer guaranteed and they left America after two years in Boston. They sailed to England, where they would live in exile for the next 19 years and have numerous children. They would be abolitionists, teachers, authors, and speakers for the rest of their lives. The author gives thanks to the abolitionists and the anti-slavery movement leaders by including their names and the specific event and manner in which their aid was given. He directly expresses how he and his wife could not have completed this journey without it. He is very descriptive yet conveys their story not from the perspective of a violated victim of slavery- but from an enlightened position of knowledge having overcame the trappings of bondage. It is of particular note the irony and shame of a country founded on the principles of freedom, having fought and died for that cause of escape from England, forcing these honorable human beings to that same country in order to preserve their own freedom. The Stamp Act raised port duties on certain items imported from the West Indies, such as sugar, coffee, and wine. This act was enforced by the British troops established within the colonies. This strategic move by the troops forbade the colonies from smuggling in other items. The Currency Act forbade the colonies from printing their own money. In 1865, England repealed the Stamp Act in response to the province's protests. The province's reasoning was that parliament is sovereign in the empire and can only raise taxes to regulate trade, not to generate revenues. The Quartering Act was passed by England so that on the occasion that the colonies misbehaved, they would send over more troops. With this condition, the colonies were also responsible for housing and feeding the troops. In 1767, the Townsend Act gave England's parliament the right to tax the colonists on lead, paper, printers, and tea. This also enraged the colonists, for this tax was solely for raising England's revenues. The Boston Massacre came as a result of the colonists reaction to the tea tax. At first, East India did not have to pay tax on tea, but the provinces did. Therefore, the colonists dressed as Indians and threw off the boat into the water East India's tea. In response to their rebellion, England passed the Coercive Act, which shut down the port and arrested the colonists involved. These acts passed by England's parliament raised the question of whether the King has the right to tax the colonies without the colonies having representation. Case Analysis Of Jason Learning Disability

Analysis of the case scenario suggests that the person Jason, a 29 years aged male, presents some variety of mental disorders. Upon his admission to the medium secure unit, a thorough analysis of the patient’s history suggests that he suffers from learning disability,  and intermittent explosive disorder. An analysis of the case scenario suggests that Jason suffered from depression, which features em otional dysregulation. It makes him unable to regulate his emotional response with regards to provocative stimuli. This is established by his previous history of conflicts in relationship or perceived abandonment. This often contributes to the sudden bursts of anger and passive aggressive behavior that he manifests. According to the DSM-V criteria, emotional dysregulation is considered as an essential feature of a large number of psychological disorders. Presence of depressive symptoms in the person can be attributed to symptoms of loneliness and social withdrawal (Strang et al. 2012). Loneliness often includes anxious feelings regarding lack of communication or connection with other beans. Such lack of social connection can be directly linked to his antisocial or hostile behavior towards others. Depressive symptoms are confirmed by signs of social withdrawal and lack of interest to attend pleasurable activities (Martin, Neighbors and Griffith 2013). The fact that Jason always carries a nice and gives repeated threats to harm others can be correlated with presence of intermittent explosive disord er, which is characterized by sudden outburst of violence and anger that is disproportionate to the situation (Coccaro 2015).   Such behavior is often triggered by inconsequential events and results in disproportionate reactions to real or perceives provocation. Therefore, there is a need to implement cognitive behavioral therapy, Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and psychotropic medications to improve the overall health and well-being of the person. The therapy is aimed towards helping people suffering from borderline personality disorder and mood disorders, by changing thoughts related to self harm to others or suicidal ideations (Linehan et al. 2015). It will increase the cognitive and emotional regulation of the person by gaining information about the triggers and underlying factors that contribute to search inappropriate reactive states (McMain et al. 2012). It will further help in assessing the coping skills that need to be applied to avoid such undesirable behavior. On the other hand, cognitive behavioral therapy such as cognitive relaxation and coping skills therapy will help in counteracting panic anxiety and anger, thereby treating intermittent explosive behavior. The intervention plan that will be device for the treatment of Jason will keep in consideration his presenting signs and symptoms, and the predisposing factors that might have increased his likelihood of getting affected with mental disorder. The common symptoms that he manifests include escalating patterns of sudden aggressive behavior such as using a knife to threat members of the community. Therefore, in order to treat presence of intermittent explosive behavior and depression, cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy will prove most effective. According to the DSM-5 diagnosis, depressed mood is characterized by subjective reports of feeling sad, hopeless or empty throughout the day. It is also marked by diminished pleasure or interest in daily activities, accompanied by psychomotor retardation or agitation (Copeland et al. 2013). DBT will focus on accepting and healthy and uncomfortable behavior and will help Jason to acknowledge that most of his self-destructive or depressing behaviors are inappropriate. A person suffering from major depressive disorder often experiences feelings of worthlessness, which in turn creates an overwhelming atmosphere of sadness that invalidate all aspects of their life (Harned et al. 2012). Therefore, the primary aim of this intervention is to reduce negative behaviors and modulates extreme emotions, which contributes to depression (Miller, Carnesale and Courtney 2014). Moreover, it will allow the patient to trust self-thoughts, emotions and activities. The proposed intervention includes conduction of dialectical behavior therapy for 1 hour, twice a week for 8 months, and coping skills therapy for 6 months. Establishing a good rapport with the patient is the primary criteria of providing the intervention as it will help in fostering an efficient therapeutic relationship. The background of the patient including his job information, his childhood, education and personal history will be collected, in order to formulate a better diagnosis plan. Effective communication can be initiated by making direct eye contact, and using appropriate hand gestures and nonverbal communication skills (Morse et al. 2012). Showing an authentic interest in the concerned patient and picking up on cues from his responses will also help in identification of issues other than the main problem. Recent findings have suggested that this behavioral therapy is successful in addressing the problematic behaviors manifested by patients, and help in elimination of abnormal mental state (Pistorello et al. 2012). According to research findings, use of DBT in combination with medication produces even better results. According to several research studies, combining the therapy with atypical antipsychotic medications such as olanzapine helps in reducing depression, impulsivity, and anxiety among patients, and also shows and improvement in treatment adherence. Furthermore, there is a lack of follow-up interview in the trials that have been conducted. Hence, long-term benefits of the therapy are not yet established. Moreover, the therapy is a demanding p rocess and required patients to spend several hours during his conduction. Patient suffering from depression shows reluctance to its implementation. In addition, the therapy focuses on the approach that can be implemented up on patients who are ready to acknowledge their illness and show compliance during the therapy sessions. Hence, any form of hesitance from the patient might lead to misleading results. On the other hand, several studies have been carried out that have established effectiveness of the coping skills therapy. It has proved effective in increasing the ability to tolerate various forms of uncertainty during explosive disorder or depression. It is considered as a doctrine which contains way of life which followers assert that it can lead to suffering. From the Buddha’s point of enlightenment, the teachings are said to have strong psychological insight and a cognitive methodology. Accordingly, the Four Noble Truths provide that suffering as part of human life can be eliminated through devotion to such teachings. The interest of Buddha was to show interest in the direct path to true happiness. The Four Noble Truths form part of Buddha’s teachings and are said to be noble as they are taught by Noble individuals. The people involved in the teachings have strong perceptions about reality and thus understanding such teachings makes one ennobled. Buddha became enlightened about the profound truth in relation to the nature of life after seeing the light under Bodhi tree. The Four Noble Truths include the noble truth about suffering, origin of suffering, cessation of suffering and way leading to cessation of suffering. The first teaching about the Four Noble Truths clearly indicates that life is characterized by frustration, suffering and dissatisfaction. Dukkha promotes individuals existence with implications on matters affecting body and mind. The human body is complex and it is affected by issues such as old age, pain, sickness, war and death. The frustration and pain which is caused by impermanence as individuals struggle with life to be happy and stay a comfortable life. During this time of seeking for comfort, finding pleasure becomes invariable hence turning to pain. In other instances, suffering becomes inevitable as much as people live according to Dukkha’s teachings. The mind is affected by matters such as failing to acquire what one likes in life, staying away from things or people a person likes most or being in a life situation which is not pleasant. Individuals suffer as a result of hopelessness which is related to lack of satisfaction in life caused by desire. IN this aspect the first provision of the Four Nobel Truths corresponds to reality about human suffering. Second teaching according to Four Nobel Truths relates to origin of suffering which results from engagement of individuals in day to day activities. Three main unsatisfactory experiences identified as causes of dissatisfactions include craving, aversion and ignorance. In this aspect, craving is a constituent of wanting more or greed. Individuals always are unsatisfied with what they have and hence want to engage in activities that lead to suffering. Aversion in its category relates to hatred or failure to engage with others hence making an individual suffer. Ignorance is a common element in the lives of many individuals which is attributable to lack of wisdom. Ending of suffering is the third component in which case life can be without dissatisfactions leading to peaceful state. Suffering can be eliminated from the life of individuals as per teachings of Buddhism. Elimination of suffering from human life is a concept that can be eliminated through being devoid of feeling and passion. Buddhism taught about an appropriate approach towards elimination of suffering which involves mortification and indulgence. Elimination of suffering from an individual’s life is therefore achieved through extinguishment of aversion, craving and ignorance. The truth of the path leading to end of suffering is the final concept of the Fourth Nobel Truths. This means a way of life without dissatisfactions which led to peace of mind and happiness. The most important aspect that leads to cessation of suffering is through following of the middle path. This is done without consideration of subsidence of extreme desire which results to full release of occurrence. According to teachings by Buddha there is the Noble Eightfold path used as a way of eliminating suffering from individual’s life resulting to achievement in one’s life. The foundation of Buddhism is rooted in Eightfold path which was first enumerated by Buddha. These provisions are considered s measures towards enlightenment and should be put into consideration to end suffering. The Eightfold path is a practical guideline that considers ethical and mental development in human life for purpose of freeing a person from delusions. The principles are classified in three categories which relates to wisdom, ethical conduct and mental development. Wisdom constitutes of right view and right intention, Ethical conduct is a constituent of right speech, right action and right livelihood. Finally, mental development constitutes of right effort, right mindfulness and right concentration. Right view is the first principle in Eightfold path which means to see and understand issues in reality as a way of realizing the Four Noble Truth. It is one of the most critical component of wisdom which makes an individual to understand the law in relation to karma and karmic. Right view is attained, enhanced and sustained in all mind capacities. Right intention is another main principle in the category of wisdom which refers to mental energy in control of individual’s actions. Basically, right intention is described as commitment to mental and ethical considerations for purpose of self-improvement. Three main types of right intentions recognized by Buddha include intention of renunciation, good will and harmlessness. In the category of ethical conduct there is right speech which clearly reflects the teachings of Buddha in which words can lead to creation of enemies, breaking or saving of life, and creation of peace or start of war. Right action is another aspect of ethical conduct which involves the entire body as a means of expressing feelings. Buddha’s teachings advocate for right action which results to respect of others for the purpose of a peaceful existence. Right livelihood is the other right of ethical conduct whereby an individual is deemed to live a righteous life. Right livelihood should be achieved through proper means which does not harm others. Mental development is the final concept of the Eightfold path which constitutes of first, right effort which is an act of will achieve through mental energy. The energy that fuels envy, desire and aggression can on the other hand promote honesty, kindness and self discipline. Right mindfulness is another principle controlled and perfected by cognition. The main principle of this concept is seeing things as they are through a clear consciousness. Right mindfulness is a concept which creates awareness on the way of individuals thought. Finally, right concentration refers to mental development occurring as a concept of natural consciousness. Right concentration according to Buddhist teachings is achieved through mediation. Manufacturers have hidden hide the real consequences of cigarette smoking for years, even though they knew it was compromising the health of the general public, which includes including men, women and children who had never smoked a single cigarette. The average teenager saw at least 26 cigarette ads each week and more than 100 ads per month, while children with chronic diseases such as asthma continued to suffer as a result of being exposed to involuntary secondhand smoke. Cigarette smoking can be attributed to Diabetes, Lung Cancer, Blindness, Kidney Failure, Problems with pregnancy in women including the inability to conceive, Birth Defects, High Blood Pressure, Respiratory Diseases and many more serious illnesses. Some adults suffer suffered from medical conditions as a direct result of the exposure to cigarette and cigar smoke in public places, family gatherings or their place of employment. Cigarette smokers, manufacturers, and advertising companies faced severe criticism and the Surgeon General began to prepare and report with significant findings on the effects of smoking. Unfortunately, it was too late for medical assistance or intervention for many. By then, medical conditions appeared and some were too advanced or terminal, making treatment impossible. The American Cancer Society encourages smokers to quit smoking on the third Thursday of November each year, this annual intervention/event is known as the Great American Smokeout. The goal of this event is to provide smokers with a wealth of information related to the health risks of smoking and to help them understand that quitting is the first step in becoming healthier. Materials and toolkits are provided nationally to those interested in hosting events aimed at helping Americans make healthy choices related to quitting. Some argue that electronic cigarettes, also known as E-Cigarettes are safer to use. They are sold online and come in a variety of flavors. E-Cigarettes are thought to be cool, and are a huge attraction to youth, as there is no age requirement to purchase them then. However, however, before smokers choose e-cigarettes there are several facts they should know. These cigarettes contain nicotine, a highly addictive drug and are still considered to be a huge health risk. E-cigarettes are an unregulated tobacco product with more than 500 brands and more than 7,000 flavors yet they have not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). E-cigarettes emit aerosol (vapor) which means its users inhale/exhale carcinogens, such as formaldehyde. Blige. This music video talks a lot about the struggles that some teenage girls face throughout life and their solution to solve it: running away. Throughout the video Ludacris, the storyteller, or rapper, talks about parents utilizing drugs, ignoring and neglecting their child, having to decide whether they can tell their parent they’re pregnant and children running away to avoid their problems and tormentors. The song was released in 2006 and is a little old, but many of the issues addressed in the video still happen today. In the first verse, Ludacris talks about Lisa. Lisa is a nine year old girl, who is growing up in an environment where she is being neglected and abused. I’ve chosen three concepts that I feel represent her story and describe what is going on. For my first concept, I was able to apply the concept of anomie. I chose this concept because Lisa doesn’t feel comfortable in her current social environment. Lisa has never met her family and doesn’t know her father, and her mother is never around. When her mother is around it is always with a strange man she is bringing home late at night. These men always end up fighting and arguing with Lisa’s mother, making her feel even more lost (Ludacris, 0:49). In the video, this can be portrayed when Lisa is on her bed laying down and staring at the ceiling with a blank expression or watching her mother being abused through the kitchen doorway. The next concept is sexual harassment. In the video we see that Lisa is raped by one of the men that her mother brings home. While her mother is asleep, the man sneaks into her room and rapes her. In the song it is told that she tries to resist, but is beat by her rapist (Ludacris, 0:54). This is the unwelcome sexual advancement. Domestic violence is also prevalent.
